Photographer's Note

Earlier that morning, we met Nanda, one of the monk of the Nga Phe Chaung Monastery famous for its jumping cat (or sleeping depending on the time of the day...).

He confirmed us that quite close, there would be a major religious festival at the Aludabang pagoda. Indeed, the same morning, our boat driver (a 12-year old devil) told us the festival was over, we had to go back to our hotel and it may be raining, all markets were closed so anyway we had to go back....

So, we took our little boat driver who tried to fool us and with the help of Nanda, convinced him that he should drive us to that Pagoda. We went to that pagoda, wandered around for the first hour looking at people.

Then, the monks started to gather in that place. Loads of monks were coming by boats, hundreds of them, kids, adults, old monks, women... We were told that all monks from the Inle area were to come : roughly 1,500 monks ! So, I sat down on the wooden deck and started to make shots, dozens of shots...
