No smile today..., a photo from Mandalay, North

Photographer's Note

During our ten days trip through Myanmar, we drove through a small village, between Meiktila and Kalaw named Yin Mar Pin. There was a novice ordination ceremony and all people were in colorful traditional clothes.
Small boys are sitting on horses and and are taken to the monastery to become monks. But all the village takes part to the ceremony... Here a small girl... She was looking kind of worried...

Pendant notre périple a travers le Myanmar, nous avons traversé un petit village nommé Yin Mar Pin, ou avait lieu une cérémonie d'intronisation de petits novices. Les jeunes futurs moines à cheval, prêts à partir pour le monastère, mais aussi tout le village était en habits de cérémonie, multicolore et extrêmement exotique. Ici une fillette, un peu songeuse, un peu inquiète...

Hello Laurent,

A very good portrait of the sweet child. Is this one destined for a life of a monk in a monastery, decided by his family? The black background is very dramatic. From conception to implementation, the photograph is first rate.

Fantastic portrait of this girl.The light is excellent and you placed her perfect in the frame.Good contrast of her skintones with the dark background.It`s a very good exposure with amazing sharpness.

When i browse your gallery i see a lot of nice images, but man what you present here is just fantastic. Look at her eyes, her lips, a bit sad, no joy at all. But still a great face with very interesting details. Sharpness is perfect on her shirt and neckless, even on her earring. but what's it all about is the light, and that is magic here. You really captured it under the best conditions possible. Light we all looking for but you got it..wonderful, truly wonderful.
Only thing i can say more is that i wish it was mine...i love it.
I don't give often an green star, but you deserve it for this one.

Hi Laurent,
She is simply beautiful and the light hitting the one sode of her face is lovely. The dark background makes her stand out so well, and I especially like her bright red lips and the flowers in her hair. Great off centre composition and the horizontal format has worked nicely here too. Great that she is not looking directly at you. A sweet and expressive poirtrait.

Hi Laurent. What a beautiful portrait and what a refreshing change from the all-too-common big beaming smile of the people from this country. Nothing wrong with the smiling face, of course, it's just great to see something different. The off-centre composition is superb - it leaves a bit of space to look round and the colours and textures are beautiful.
