Photographer's Note
I thought it was time for a little more gold. The many temples in Bagan are in fact mostly of stone, but there is this one, the Shwezigon Temple, and then a few more with small amounts of gold. I think it is slightly confusing, or at least it is to me, because the famous Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon has a similiar name. I am sure there is a reason for this, but this temple in Bagan although wonderful does not begin to rival the glory of the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon. For a larger view: Click Me

hello Steve
it's said that the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon is the more beautiful pagoda in the world. And if this one is less beautiful, this is spectacular too,and with this blue sky,it appears to me absolutly wonderful.I am looking forward to be there, when I see your superb pictures.

Hello Steve,
The Shwedagon is among the most amazing structures I've seen (it's up there among the Great Wall, the Potala and Angkor Wat), but this isn't bad either. I am sure I would be impressed if standing below it. The colours are just marvellous and you managed to find s good spot from where you could cover most of it, including a few people.
Kind regards,
Gert

Very interesting and different architecture. I like the contrast of shining gold and blue sky. People near the temple give a scale to these building and fits well to compo. Nice shot and interesting note, thank you :)

Hello Steve!
In a special world, a special atmosphere. Very good color fidelity, (gold is very difficult to photograph). The whites, a bit overexposed.
Have a nice day. Csaba

Hello Steve - The impact of this shot is excellent in the large version; unfortunately it loses that at this size. A wonderful exotic temple complex, the gold and blue is so attractive a contrast colour wise. In the larger version the people really become an important part of the shot. Nice work and a place I will get to one day. Best regards Rosemary
