One of the interesting things you can see on the streets of Mongolian capial are people sitting next to small booths on which there are (on first sight) ordinary telephones. On a better look you realise that these are not ordinary but mobile (cellular phones) but designed to look as ordinary phones.
Because of its size and nomadic population, Mongolia has very poor fixed line infrastructure and increasingly uses the cellular phones as substitution for fixed phones. So, because of that many people work as telephonists, sitting on the streets and allowing people to use their "public" mobile pay phones.
