Photographer's Note

Cameron Highlands - Malaysia's hill resort location, just 150 km north of Kuala Lumpur. At 1500 m above sea level this area is a cool retreat from the excessive heat at lower levels. Cameron Highlands has many jungle trails. It is a wonderful way to explore the countryside’s fauna and flora. One of the more frequently used jungle trail is number 4. It is easy trail which leads to the Parit Waterfall. This is not the big waterfall and certainly not the cleanest. During my visit there was a great deal of garbage in the water. Walk takes approximately 30 minutes from Tanah Rata. Jungle trails in tropical rain forest are big attraction for visitors. It seems to be easy to walk through jungle, but you never know when a simple jungle trail may turn out to be a jungle survival situation. Like the case of Jim Thompson, Thai Silk King.
Jim Thompson was american military intelligence officer during World War II. After his discharge from the service he made permanent resident in Thailand. He was an architect, but he built up the Thai silk industry and he became very well known not only in Thailand but all over the world. This gentleman left his guesthouse in Cameron Highlands on March 26 1967 to walk Jungle Trail number 4,and no one surely could have imagined he would never be seen again. Until today his disappearance has been a mystery and many conspiracy theories had been constructed.
