Photographer's Note

With nothing brighter than the refracted drowsy afternoon light coming through the window, an old woman patiently and deftly, threads tiny beads into bracelets or necklaces.

She is one of the few Rungus women, of Kampong Tinangol in the Matunggung subdistrict of Kudat, still working on spare times turning bits and pieces of the rainforest, into intricate ethnic accessories. A supplimentary effort on a bucolic setting.

Inside the twilight ambience of these communal longhouses, you could sometimes see three or four women, threading something over their rattan pans, which sit on their laps of their outstretched legs, on the elevated bamboo platform inside the covered veranda of the longhouse.
