Photographer's Note

I was looking for a novice monk whose photograph I took on the Mekong a few days before. Wandering around the temple and finding no one, I stumbled upon this lady sitting on the stoop of her one room wooden living quarters.

She was a female monk.....known as bhikkuni.....who lived on the premises, but she spoke no Thai or English, only Lao. She seemed quite lonely so I gave her a few kip and a couple of kind words.

She seemed to communicate with me through her eyes, and her mind seemed clear.
