A Mekong Sunset, a photo from Louangphabang, North

Photographer's Note

I spent an easy weekend in Luang Prabang hoping to get some shots of the fishermen by the Mekong River, but there were none to be seen; and I had just ONE strong sunset, whereas the rest of the days it was cloudy in the evenings. But when the sun comes along, the views by the river were simply lovely.

Seen here is the type of boat you can hire to take you cruising along the river, instead of joining the morning tour cruises. This way, you get to avoid the large crowds in the places you wish to photograph!

Fabulous the golden light prevailing this imposing picture.
strong water current is noticed, the length of the boat is a leading line to view the far side mountains far beyond.
You were in the right perfect time and place.

Quel beau moment sur les rives du Mékong. J'ai emprunté le même genre d'embarcation lors de mon passage. Malheureusement pour moi je n'ai pas pu profiter d'un aussi beau coucher de soleil. C'est superbe.

The colours and the lights are really amazing on this picture. The composition is also well-considered: the boat points to the direction of the setting Sun and the mysterious distance.

Ohh! I had even an hour trip by boat along the Mekong river. I have similar photos from this city. This is poor cheap and exotic country. Thanks for memories!

What a gorgeous shot lot of fine details, lovely how the boat's diagonal position successfully guides the eye into the whole composition. Great that you've definitely made the most of the situations and this does convey a mood of peace and tranquility. An eye candy shot, I am impressed. Congrats
