Photographer's Note

This image is of Buddhist monks daily 6am morning alms collection from the public in the town of Luang Prabang - the royal capital of Laos. It's a most interesting when monks of all ages from the monasteries go to the streets and people give them food since Buddhist monks can only eat what is an offer to them, and in exchange they pray for those generous people.

Offering food is one of the oldest Buddhist rituals and not seen as charity but as a spiritual connection between lay people and monasteries. This old aged religious tradition is continuing today as they are forbidden from growing, storing or cooking their own food; they rely entirely on the generosity of alms to feed themselves.

An image showing how it happens when their orange robes gleam in dull greyish morning hue

Just a simple shot showing a smallest glimpse of everyday life here......
