Photographer's Note

Hi everyone!
This was taken in the same market as my last two posts.
Although I'm not a vegetarian myself, I'm trying to understand why is it that we have become so indifferent to others suffering, human or not.

Here are two quotes which I really like:

"The animals of this world are not here for human purposes any more than women are here for men, or blacks for whites."

Alice Walker (civil rights activist and feminist novelist )

"Compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to humankind. .. Until he extends the circle of compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.. Humankind has a long journey toward this goal.."

--Albert Schweitzer

Thanks for all your comments and critiques.
Have great weekend!

PS: I just added a workshop version which I personally like better for this photo. I think a more faded and colorless look suites it better. I didn't like the BW version as much. Let me know which one you like better and why. cheers..
