Photographer's Note

I was out of bed very early in a morning heading to Talat Sao market in town just to get a taste of local life and like most markets in Asia, it starts very early with a heady mixture of sights, sounds and smells. Those bounty of golden rich baguettes grabbed my attention so much more and indeed hard to resist even though I found the lighting was a bit of a challenge to tackle. Laos, like Vietnam, was once part of France’s overseas empire, the French brought the baguette to Laos and while its empire is long gone, its bread remains till today.

This shot, is one of five snaps taken hand-held, I loved the effect of tungsten light giving this a warmer tone that I aimed for.
