Photographer's Note

Wat Sisaket is Vientiane's oldest working monastery. In 1818 it was built by King Anouvong. Most probably its Siamese style saved it from the destruction when the Siamese (Thai) armies occupied Vientiane in 1828. The inner sanctuary contains an extensive displays of Buddha images from the 16th to the 19th century about 6840 such images.
