Photographer's Note

Of the nearly six or seven thousand shots I took when away in Asia over the summer, there were really only ever five or six I really liked. While I've managed to make reasonable efforts with PP and cropping with some of the others, I've only just had a go with this one, which is one of my favourites.

This was taken on the first of two days spent travelling from Hua Xai to Luang Prabang. Our slow boat stopped for a short while so we could buy a few items of food, stop for the toilet and so on. As we were approaching the boat I immediately spotted this young girl as she was daydreaming away, oblivious to the 100 or more foreigners that were coming down the Mekong towards her.

I can't even begin to imagine what a life like hers must be like; foreigners are a daily occurance and her family's boat is life.

I wonder what she's doing now...
