Photographer's Note

in laos rivers play an important role in the life of the people. on my boattrip from nong khiaw to luang prabang on the nam-ou river i could watch the locals for hours. fishing, looking for gold, searching for snales ... it was a fantastic experience. the woman on the picture is collecting seaweed which is dried in the sun with some chili and chopped onions. later on they serve it as a snack in bars and restaurants.
in the background you can see a construction site in the river. unfortunately i can't tell what they were building here.
