Photographer's Note

Shots taken in Ban Pak Sak village - home to Tai Dam ethnic, about 6km out of town set among the vast rice fields and still partially shrouded by cold morning mist. The farmer was preparing rice paddy at a start of planting season, no tractors and all done manually with the traditional methods.

What you see here are gradual growth of lovely patches of lush green stretching to the horizon creating a stunning landscape. This scene must have taken place for centuries and seems that everything remains unchanged.

I loved the serenity and laid-back atmosphere.

Additional pictures:
Workshop1: It was still cold that morning and the whole family members were in mud for hour. There is a strong sense of community and people help each other. This is the same in all the remote villages.

Workshop2: Rural life has not changed much in this part of the country. It is like going back in time. People work with their hands and muscle power. No tractors or machines to help with the daily tasks in the fields.
