Photographer's Note

Another photo taken at a busy Luang Namtha morning market, this young Akha girl was going about her daily business who had just arrived with a load of brooms for sale. Just a simple way of life capture about customs and old traditions, I bet what loads she seemed to handle everyday as a matter of routine with the basket has done its fair share of work throughout her young life. The same way of life that has probably not changed, even at a young age she is expected to carry heavy loads on her back over considerable distances through the hills. It's quite a long walk from her isolated Thatphum Phuk Akha village some 8-10km away from here.......

I was also fascinated by the simple rudimentary head-sling shoulder board used, which helps to lessen the total weight on her back. Despite her young clean looking face, it's doubtless a hard day's work but this has a charm of its own too imho, and that’s why I couldn't resist capturing regardless of how little I saw it.
