Photographer's Note

Taken early in the morning on the edge of a deserted Route 13 mountain road - the only 'highway' linking up north from Luang Prabang all the way to the Chinese border. From my high vantage point I could see down below pockets of mist evaporating everywhere on the tributary of lazy Nam Song river and noticed the lone rafter emerging with just a hint of diffuse background. I've always liked the way misty gray has a special light and feel, and the way warm tones seem to be enhanced by the otherwise dreary colours.

Shooting location: Near Ban Phin Ho about 30 km north of Luang Namtha.
