Photographer's Note

This photograph summarizes what was photographed on the outskirts of Akihabara of the present. Akihabara has developed in Japan of the postwar years as an electronics quarter where the store which deals with various electronic devices, parts, and software with high economic growth is built and located in a line. However, today's Akihabara is changing greatly compared with old times. There were many large and small retailers in which deal with home electronics such as television, refrigerator, and washing machine etc and the specialty store of audio goods, records, and CD about 20 years ago. Then next, the stores which sell the personal computer or electronic game them increased in number with arrival of boom in this town. And, when this electronic game boom got into stride, the hobby shop and anime shop which perceived the demand which likes virtual space also came to be built and located in a line. Maid cafe will also be a flow on the extension. Now, having moved from the personal computer to the smart phone can peep through exhibition of the first floor in a volume retailer. In recent years, many compound buildings are built centering on Akihabara Station by urban renewal, and the age and the customer stratum to visit are also various. The photograph right redevelops the former site in Transportation Museum, and is utilized as interior goods or a food mall.
