Photographer's Note

This photograph was taken in the early morning at the Himi fishing port facing the Toyama bay. The market of the fishing port was very active in landing of a fish and the auction of the fish which was able to take. The Himi fishing port is a third class fishing port in Toyama Prefecture. The fishing method here is characterized by the fixed net fishing method from ancient times. In the ocean space of this neighborhood, the continental shelf is developed to the 5-km offing, and the shallow sea spreads out. A small fishing boat comes out to the sea in the dead of night, a net is thrown, and a fish is captured. There can take mackerel well at this time. Beside mackerel, there were seen the fish the of a cuttlefish, a crab, etc. in the market. I walked along the inside of a fishing port as not interfering with their work. Many sea gulls were flying to the surroundings of a fishing port. A fish is landed and the boxing after classifying can be seen to the front. It is ice for freezing and saving a fish that is contained in a big box. Back, the appearance of the auction of fishes is visible vacantly.
