Photographer's Note

I am not going fast anywhere with this travelogue of mine. I am still covering my first two days in Tokyo!!But I do intend to show you things not normally shown and that may take time.

An izakaya (居酒屋?) is a type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. The food is usually more substantial than that offered in other types of drinking establishments in Japan such as bars or snack bars, and may be compared to Spanish tapas.
I was told by my Japanese friend that such places were frequented by men who unwind after the stresses of work. A place where men drink "before going home to their wives."
