Photographer's Note

This is the Dogo onsen (hot springs bathhouse), supposedly the oldest and most famous bathhouse in Japan, with a history dating back 1000 years. It is located in Matsuyama in Ehime prefecture south of Osaka and it is an excellent place to relax and have a break from the modern urban sprawl that surrounds it. The beautiful and elaborate exterior was the inspiration for the 'bathhouse of the Gods' seen in the anime film 'Spirited Away'.
