Photographer's Note

Lanterns at Kasuga Tiasha Shrine.
Nara, Japan.

Besides many deer walking around, there are many moss covered Japanese Lanterns at Kasuga Shrine. These were donated by worshippers. These varied lanterns are lit on the occasion of the Lantern Festival held in both February and August. This view only reflects a small percentage of the lanterns found here. I wish I was able to be here at festival time. I am sure the evening/night view is the absolute best time to see these lanterns all lighted and bright.

At many of Japan's shrines and parks there seems to be many wild deer roaming about. One can buy food for them and they will pick your pocket to get at it. Great for kids and the many tourists. The deer seem friendly and touchable.
