Photographer's Note

Iwakura is an area located in the southern part of Sakyo-ku, Kyoto-shi. It is the neighboring area that it left a little in north-east from the Kyoto-shi center here. A small city area formed along a railroad and a major road in a northern mountainous district and an area around the Iwakura Basin among southern hills becomes the center of the basin. Here came to be known as a suburban residential area and a school district after the war. Because it becomes the controlled urbanization zone, farmland and the Forestry Division stay more wealthily around a city area.

I took this photograph early in the morning on the road near the hotel where I stayed at. Behind roadside tree dyed to the autumnal tints, a mountain surrounded by a haze rose. This place is near Kokusai-Kaikan Station that is the last station of the Karasuma route of the Kyoto municipal subway.
