Kyoto - Higashiyama - Enjoying sakura in the rain

My visit of Japan in the spring of 2014 pleased me that much that I decided to go back and that I wanted to see more of that wonderful country. I also decided to go back in the same time of the year: in spring when the sakura (cherry blossoms) give the country such a wonderful face.

But this spring didn’t look much like the spring of last year. Unlike the sunny days and the blue skies in 2014, this time I often had overcast skies and rain. One day it even snowed. Sometimes I had the impression I had arrived in winter.
Fortunately the weather improved during my holiday.

During this journey I visited other places than on my previous trip but my first day I spent again in the beautiful Kyoto.

The picture here and the two in the workshop are taken in Kyoto in the vicinity of the Nanzenji Temple at the base of the forested Higashiyama mountains.
You see that the rain can not stop the Japanese people to go out and enjoy the sight of the sakura.

The cherry blossom is Japan’s unofficial national flower. It has been celebrated for many centuries and holds a very prominent position in Japanese culture.
