Apartment with green and ivy, a photo from Tokyo, Kanto

Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in the alley in the middle of taking a walk from Ōtsuka to Ikebukuro of Tokyo. The circumference of this alley is a place where the residence and the small-scale store are intermingled, and there are many standard buildings peculiar to Tokyo. This building was built attractively as there might differ from surrounding buildings on the corner which two alleys intersect exactly. I have memorized which this was a two-story apartment house itself. The outer wall of the mortar style were uniquely covered by green and ivy. Two set of electric meter are installed in left-hand side beside the small door. And in front of the building, one bicycle was placed lonely. A strong light of the morning from horizontal direction was illuminating the building.

Hello Mikio,
Nice shot of this modern building. I like the light and shadow patterns you have captured on the wall. The green plants contrast the wall of the building very well and creates a soothing effect in this concrete jungle. Good inclusion of the mirror in the composition..we can see the corner of the street as well. The cycle presents a lonely melancholy mood. Excellent photo and thanks for sharing.

Nice included the traffic-mirror on right, added a bit of the surrounding area to lookout.
Nice compo. with shades over the entrance of a humble home, very different from what we see on the mirror. Good contrast of a subject.

The mirror shows an interesting view of the alley and it is also in a fine balance with the awning above the door. Together with the bicycle, these three items provide a good triangle in the composition.
