Photographer's Note

I have always been interested in shooting Japan at night; especially in the narrow alleys where the neon lights light up an otherwise dark alley where a solitary figure would walk by, or a cyclist would go by.

Walking along the smaller streets of Takadanobaba ( apparently the 9th busiest train station on the planet, although it is still a relatively minor stop on the circular Yamanote Line), I had the opportunity at this alley.

Takadanobaba's main claim to fame is as a hang out for students from nearby Waseda University. For this reason, cheap izakaya, bars, cafes and karaoke are plentiful here.
