Photographer's Note

Yanaka is a town with many temples and hills. There are little Great Kanto Earthquake and damage in World War II here, and the conventional rows of houses and building are left behind. If it comes down at Nippori Station and you walk in the direction of a Yanaka shopping street, traditional old stores will be seen on both sides of a street. Moreover, the temple is built in some places. I took this photo in front of entrance gate of Nichiren buddist sect "Kyoou-ji". This temple are built in 1655. In entrance gate, there remains the firing back by the new government army at the time of the Ueno war of an end of Edo Period, and it is telling the disturbance of the Meiji Restoration. Moreover, it is interesting that many posters are stuck on the pillar of entrance gate.
