The bicycle parking in snowy day, a photo from Tokyo, Kanto

Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken on the first day in Tokyo for it to snow this year. This is in front of the nearest station from my house. A charged parking lot for bicycles is located along a track at the station front in this way. The commuter and student using a station use well this bycycle parking. Although it was a snowy day on that day, since it was past 2 p.m., many bicycles had been located with a long line. From this place, the bicycle has disappeared at early morning and night as thread was pulled. Janitors are in a parking lot and they are checking the bicycle of illegal parking occasionally. In Tokyo, it rarely snows in a year. Even after it stops snowing, snow will remain for many days. And a cold day will continue for many days by the evaporation heat into which snow melts.

I could feel the snow and the freezing cold. A nice slice of Japanese life in winter. I like the other colors to contrast against the white of snow. Regards. Latiff.

Hello mikko. Snow everywhere - yes, winter is present everywhere. The bikes have now usually break. But ultimately, we are happy when it snows - because what would a winter without snow. The vertical format fits well. The few colors are a great contrast to the dominant white. Overall, very atmospheric.

This is a very attractive winter-view. The vertical shape suits this composition well and underscores the good depth given by the long lines of parked bicycles and electricity-poles. The discreet but still distinct glimpses of colour are very nice and the good sharpness makes us see almost every falling snowflake.

Hello Mikio,

What a nice starting of the winter, these snow cares for a unique image.
We see the bikes with a good pack snow and the lady in background with umbrella.
Sharpness and clarity are perfect.

Love your strong perpsective in this narrow streetscape and what a bitter cold scene shrouded by lumps of heavy snow in lovely viewpoint with those line of parked bikes creating a tremendous depth to the image. Great emphasis given on the buildings as effective foreground subjects, in good tonal contrast and natural colors, clarity is good considering condition of the day with specks of vivid color to catch the eye. As always human interaction adds so much life and vital to the composition. Woneder snow scene ao well captured. Congrats.

Marvelous taken the shot while snow was falling, and also well balanced the WB on image.
So many bikes in juxtaposition, only saw once in Amsterdam - but this is impressive no less.
