Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken at Takeshita street of Tokyo Harajuku. As for this passage, the shops treating young-men/women-oriented clothing and accessories are crowdedly located in a line with the both sides of the narrow passage. I found the crepe shop in the middle of the way. Many kinds of crepes are arranged in in a show window. Each goods are colorful and numbered so that it may be easy to order. Whipped cream is applied on crepe and toppings such as a banana, a strawberry and chocolate etc are put on it. Although I have eaten before, it's a desert liked by the person-with-a-sweet-tooth. In addition, it is a thing of the Harajuku origin instead of the France origin that inserts sweet fruit, whipped cream, etc. on dough of crepe.

Crepe is a kind of a pancake and the Brittany(Bretagne) region in northwestern France is a dish of origin. A dish called the galette of the thin pancake made from buckwheat flour became origin. The dough was changed into flour from buckwheat flour, and it changed so that milk, butter, a chicken egg, sugar, etc. might be added to the dough which was only powder, water, and salt. So, crepes are served with a variety of fillings, from the most simple with only sugar to flambéed crepes Suzette or elaborate savoury galettes.
