Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in the Yoyogi gymnasium in Tokyo Harajuku. I dropped in at the nearby gymnasium on the way home after having gone to Meiji Jingu Shrine. The all Japan championship of fencing was held in the gymnasium. Foil for the man and pe for the woman were performed in the final day on that day. Although a Japanese player also began to play an active part in the Olympic Games etc. recently, it is still a minor game in Japan. For its reason, although it was free watching a game, the hall seat was vacant conspicuous only by the persons concerned. Although I don't know well the rule, I likes this sport because it is a martial art sport which needs concentration and quick judgement as well as its weapon and protective clothing. Two players competed for techniques which hits opponent effective area on long and slender platform (piste) and player who was firstly taken 15 point is a victory. Incidentally, this photograph shows the game of men's Foil, and the game uses the electric referee machine nowadays.
I photographed at low speed by the shutter priority mode.
