Photographer's Note
This is an area with an old atmosphere, though it is the center in Tokyo. The old private houses were pulled down by the Tokyo redevelopment project, the high rise apartment and the multistory office building were instead built, and the surrounding environment has been changed completely by it the whole place along this Sumida River. This Tsukuda district is one of a few places which have left traditional scenery and has sighed like an air pocket. Once, the fishermen took out the ship from here, and they went to Sumida River or Tokyo Bay, and had taken small fish. This name of "food boiled down in soy(佃煮)" which dried the fish and attached sweet taste originates in the name of this town. If we walk along this zone even now, an old private houses stand in a row across a river, few individual stores and a shrine are located in some places. So, here has left the unique space which is not in a busy city.

Hello Mikio,
This is a fine shot from an older part of Tokyo. The view is filled with interesting details that most of us don't associate with the Tokyo of today. I like this well composed and well treated photo with good nuances of black and white.
Kind regards,
Gert

hi Mikio
I always enjoy waiting to see what you have next to show us in Japan!
This one didn't dissapoint.
you have a good collection of elongated boats and tall verticals for contrast in opposite directions, and it created depth too.
good idea to create the red line as a focal point, then we move out from there.
well shot
cheers

Hi Mikio,
Interesting view about old district, good panoramic format with an interesting place for this boat to give depth at the view, I like the contraste between the grey tone and the red bridge.

Hi Mikio
Great ideas and approach with this eye catching subject in selective coloring to this once must be a hectic place for fishery acitivity. Sadly new urban development has taken over and now surrounded by very dull greyish urban jungle and only fraction of the old sight an be seen with few fishing boats. A good dedication and nice bit of nostalgia that brings back wealth of memories and history of this place that is so meaningful to you. I like the perspective, placement of the boats, light display and such good contrast. PP treatment in mono is fine. Excellent narratives and thoughtful piece of photo journalism. Well done.
Kind regards

Grey tones enhanced the old-style neighbourhood in Tokyo, and well in depth view, Mikio.
The red bridge made a fine focal point. Boats anchored captured in fine clarity. Wonder how this would look on colors, in a brighter day.
Best reagrds,
Ike
