Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in Rikugien Garden in Tokyo Bunkyo-ku. Because it entered the second half in March and the warm day continued, cherry trees began to bloom all at once from a condition of a bud. Weeping cherry of Rikugien was also in full bloom earlier than a schedule, and had made the flower of thin red bloom. Many visitors were coming to see the cherry tree here probably because of Vernal Equinox Holiday, today. In front of the cherry tree, there are many photographers taking the weeping cherry tree of this photograph,
This "ESO-Higan(Cerasus spachiana Lavalee ex H.Otto var.)" changes with the big tree which has about 13 m in height, and about 17 m in width. It blooms early one week than a standard kind of "Somei Yoshino(Cerasus ×yedoensis)". Many branches branched from the thick trunk and the flower of the lovely cherry tree is in bloom from the bent branch. For a Japanese, a cherry tree is a flower which tells spring arrival. It is a reason of a flower apt to the view of life and death of the Japanese who likes the pity of the thing where a beautiful thing blooms in an instant and is distracted by an instant. So, it may originate in the special feature which the Japanese who likes emotion better than logic has. Although the time of the bloom differs, many cherry trees are planted all over the country. It goes north in a cold district from a warm district, and will bloom till end time in April. The time when this cherry tree blooms is also the time of a turning point when a graduation ceremony, an entrance ceremony, a hiring ceremony in the office, etc. are held.
