Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken to the Sanja Matsuri(festival) in this spring. Sanja Matsuri is one of the three great Shinto festivals in Tokyo. It is held on the third weekend of every May at Asakusa Shrine. A local resident participates in a festival per town association, shoulders a mikoshi, parades a neighborhood, and supports a festival. Many young and old of both sexes wear specific clothes named Happi and participate in festival. Probably, this family will just be going to go to the hall of the festival.

1. Happi:
Happi is a traditional Japanese straight-sleeved coat usually made of indigo or brown cotton and imprinted with a distinctive crest. They are usually worn only to festivals. (From Wikipedia)
2. The participant in a festival who wore Happi: workshop
