Photographer's Note
This photograph is taken in the women's kendo convention held Tokyo Budokan Hall in Ayase, Tokyo four years ago. Kendo is the martial art which game-ized the art of fencing of Japan. It performs poking and striking operation which wears a kendo implement and uses a bamboo sword by 1 to 1. It is also the martial art which trains mind and body, so it aims at character building by continuing exercise on the other hand. It was devised in the middle of the Edo period(1603–1868) of the Samurai age, and has passed through development of a protector or changes of a rule after that. In the junior high school government guidelines for teaching in 1958, kendo, judo, and sumo were made into regular course gymnastics, and it has continued till today. Moreover, female kendo will begin from the 1960s with postwar by coeducation or a woman's advance in society, and history is short compared with male kendo.

Trully wondered for a long time, how come i do not see Samrai photo as a subject on pictures from japan, finally didi it, Mikio.
Great three photos, well taken whike in motion, and diff. posed on the duel's.
The pic. in the middle is most impressive - intriguing how their faces would be looking.
Best regards,
Ike

Howdy Mikio,
Excellent 3-screen Kendo images, with the martial combatants active and a slight blur to accentuate movement. And a reminder of history and culture.
Well done,
Cheers,
