Photographer's Note

1885 was an important year in the history of motorcycles - the year when Gottlieb Daimler had built an "Otto Cycle Engine" (constructed by Nicolaus Otto) into a wooden bike, constructing the worlds first motorcycle. It had one 264 cc cylinder, 0.5 horsepower and could develop the speed of 12 km/h. This photo of an accurate replica was taken in the Honda museum in Motegi, Japan. A detail I thought is interesting, the small oil canister visible in this photo, is better shown in the Workshop photo.
