Photographer's Note

This photograph is the scenery photographed from the car which goes in Abashiri from an airport. Hokkaido occupies 50% of the national onion quantity of production, and cultivation is especially prosperous in it in Abashiri and the Kitami area. An onion is treated as a therophyte or a biennial herb on horticulture. A bulb is used as vegetables. Moreover, it excels in a nutrition target, and an onion is productive, it can be saved at normal temperature and is applicable to the dish of any countries. The onion of this district is firewood cultivation in spring. Fix planting of what carried out sowing and was raised within the vinyl house from the end of February in March is moved to a field from the end of April to May. From June to the middle of July, growth of a leaf is prosperous time and hypertrophy of a stalk starts after that late in July. An above-ground part will fall from July to August. After clipping a leaf and a stalk, the work which draws out a stock from the ground is done before harvest. After harvest, it puts into a container and dries it.
