Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken when I take a walk the circumference of a station in the autumn of last year using the connection time of a train. This shrine existed on the way which I move in the direction of the bridge which can photograph autumnal-leaves scenery well, and walks. It is a local small shrine. A figure was not found in the precincts of a temple. I do not remember the name of this shrine. Since there was idling time, when I went into the precincts of a shrine. There was small Hon-dō(Main hall) in front. And, the stone lantern and the wooden lamp poles were placed on the both sides of an approach with the fixed interval. As the whole, it is a symmetrical style of building. The leaf of the trees in Hon-dō's back hand was dyed autumnal tints, and fallen leaves had spread in the precincts of a shrine so that deepening of autumn might be shown. It invited lonesomeness strangely for me. When it thinks, all over the country, anywhere is a shrine, and
the construction composition of a shrine is almost the same. Torii is in the entrance of a shrine, a lantern is placed on an approach and Hondo has in the center. Since I am not a religion specialist, I do not know why the shrine exists in Japan about 80,000. A shrine is a religious service institution of Shintoism of religion of Japan, and it is an organization which performs religious service courtesy and faith. A shrine is a place which prays for actual things, such as charm against misfortunes and a good harvest, and the meaning differs from the temple which prays for things in which man is not seen. While people are unconscious, they go by everyday life to a shrine, and pray to God in it. This is the world of human's deep psyche separated from science.
