Photographer's Note

This photograph is taken in the Oozora town contiguous to Memanbetsu Airport. This area is an agricultural area centering on vegetables. Many vegetables are grown focusing on the potato, the onion, and the sugar beet etc,. This photograph is the field immediately after planting the seedling of a beet. Along with sugarcane, sugar beet is one of the materials of sugar, and is grown in a comparatively cool area. It is positioned as basic crops of the arviculture agriculture of Hokkaido. A sugar beet is a plant belonging to the same department of Chenopodiaceae as a spinach. It basks in a solar light to a leaf, sugar is accumulated in a root part, and this sugar serves as base which makes sugar.
