Photographer's Note

Shimada had long been a lumber town.
It is said that a canoe named Karuno sent to the imperial court in the 3rd century.
20th century brought the lumber and paper mills alomg with the Tokaido railway.
One day in 1945, an US b29 dropped a bomb as big as a "Bathtub" on Shimada to make some casualties.
Afyer the war, the bomb turned out to be a mock-up of the atomic bomb.
