Photographer's Note
I was waiting for the train and I saw this man in deep sleep, I just had to take his picture.
People around me were looking at me strangely and some were laughing. Luckily I had a friend with me at the time, so he also felt a little embarrased too.
At the end of the day, I havent seen a person wait for the train like this before.
Enjoy

I think my next pic will be a man waiting for the train sleeping on the bench i took going to the samba festival
i like the pic because when i saw it i thought. yeah thats japan alright. more than anything im giving it points because i think it fits in with the idea of trek earth. for editing the pic I might have tried to beighten his clothes and darken the light colored background a bit but thats about all i cna think of

Yes, I've seen quite a few scenes like this in Japan. I can almost hear the chimes when I look at this! Nice one....

Great picture. I'm amazed that there are no other people in the picture, even the background.

A lot of feeling in this one. You can really feel that an awful days has gone bye. The angle from behind gives a nice diagonal line in the benches.

i too like the angle and DOF. there's a nostalgic feeling in the image, a feeling of aimlessness and loneliness. good work.

Nice shot. Very TE as well, coz sleeping in transportation or public places is quite common in Japan from my experience.

Hi Dan. Nor have I. This picture reminds me of some posotions that I have seen seals sleeping in. It looks so painful! I'd say it was worth a little embarrassment to get this shot. The composition is great as is the clarity and DOF. Well done!

Ha ha, a great photo, and one I missed up until now. If you wanted to be really daring you could have stood up on the seat behind him and taken a photo of him looking down. That would have been something else. I've heard about chronic lack of sleep among people in Japan, so this puts it in perspective. Nice work.

I can imagine people were staring at you; what he is doing is so normal in a place where commuting takes hours and workers are away from home for 16 or more hours, you were the oddity. I've seen people sleep anywhere, and everywhere. The funny part is that he likely got up and made his train. I am always amazed when I see people drop off on buses or trains and seemingly snap awake at their stop.
Thanks for a chuckle.
