Photographer's Note

The evening of my arrival on a panzer in an eastern village of Alor Island, I have been surrounded by villagers at the driver's home entry... This little fellow was very shy and perplexed in front of me.

It had been a long ride since Kalabahi, the main town of the island... a "rodeoheroic" journey through different landscapes. The most funny (for me) was the guy who sat for a while on the jeep's hood, next to a heap of eggs, not on the driver's side, of course. It seemed to me a real challenge (both for the eggs and man!)... This journey is long and tiring; I had been told it would be boring too ... Not really. There is always small things to look at, even when the landscape is more dust bowl than fabulous... The inconvenience of the ride was nothing compared with the great perspective of a long walk in the east of the island, from one village to another, along the coast.
