Photographer's Note

She was far away in her own little world who was probably tired, lost in thoughts or day dreaming perhaps and that’s why I couldn't resist regardless of how little I saw it. A simple 'street portrait' not particularly competent just a quick grab and nothing staged about it. I was so captivated very much by this charming market vendor with her distinctive catchy headdress worn by the ethnic Toraja women, a sense of important cultural identification passed down from generations after generations which in turn leads to pride and sharing of tradition, and this identity clearly separates them from other ethnic groups.

The Torajas traditionally rice farmers, are native inhabitants of Toraja Highland in remote cool mountainous region in the north of South Sulawesi Province. They are predominantly Protestant mixed with the animistic beliefs of their ancestors and throughout their life. There are many rituals related to birth, life, marriage and death........

Fully focus on her facial features with aperture set at max opening to compensate the low light condition
