Photographer's Note

This expansive view was taken on Losari beach overlooking The Straits of Makassar when it was bathed in brewing dark storm clouds. It was a mixture of the apparent warm light from one side and darkness from the other just as the sun was going down on the extreme right - not in pict. The light and colours kept changing dramatically and so swiftly, but that was when things got excited and a rather more dramatic change in conditions, every now and again casting some subtle rays and spreading a warm glow on the seascape.

Knowing well that a storm was in the making to cause havoc when those fishing boats were seen hurrying ashore to beat it. The brooding clouds thickened into a wild heavy and massive blanket..

It’s a golden opportunity infact to experience the many variations of light that unfold before my eyes in a short period of time – patterns of colors, tones, shadows, shades and textures that surfaced above water briefly in this particular time and place. It was awesome standing there watching the drama and a true gift, just as the camera took it. Moments later the panorama took on a frenzied atmosphere, lightning began to play in that menacing and powerful 'bubble'clouds...
what a sight.

Focused of the clouds but exposed on the foreground, the bit of Kayangan Island can be seen on the left horizon. I wanted to include as much of the skyscape as possible, helped by my ever faithfull Graduated ND filter to achieve a much more balance exposure.
