Photographer's Note

A shot is taken on the shore of a remote Lake Tempe located in central region of South Sulawesi Province. These are the traditional canoes or 'katinting', a long and shallow draft canoes widely used by the Bugis native inhabitants as their main transportation around the extensive network of waterways. I just love the pure celebration of colours and the unique traditional motif with the resemblances of Bugis Scripts.

This canoe represents only one the countless types of indigenous sailing vessels of the nation with 13000 islands that makeup the maritime nation of Indonesia or well known as Land Under the Rainbow, the world's fourth most populous and ethnically a highly diverse nation coloured by over 380 ethnic groups with over 580 dialects...

Shooting location: Salomate Village on the eastern shore on a slight cloudy afternoon.
