Photographer's Note

These girls were involved in a banjar dance class. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe they are learning the "welcome dance," traditionally performed to welcome the gods into their temple on the first day of a festival. This dance is also commonly performed for tourists to "welcome" them to an event. The bowls they are holding would contain little flowers which the girls spread about the temple.
