"The Man and His Companion", a photo from Bali, Nusa Tenggara

Photographer's Note

On the way back to the hotel, I saw this man with his cow walking
along the small lane or road in Sanur.

I remember asking him if I can a picture of him. Of course, he must have
felt 'comfortable' when I spoke to him in my Malaysian 'Malay language'.
Obviously, the cow was in 'shock' hearing me speaking :-)

What I can say about this man that he was so friendly and willing.
We did chat ....about what, I've no idea anymore.

Hello Loong,
A good portrait of the man and his cow. The animal looks great, especially because of the shapes of irs horns. The vegetation makes a good green backdrop.

A good photo of man and beast. It reminds me of recent news item about an orphaned cow that was brought up with dogs and now thinks it is a dog and goes for walks with the dogs on a lead.

No WS is needed to complement a fine double portrait like this. It is a plain composition, but the elderly man makes a kind and gentle impression and his cow is quite pretty and looks well tended. The green "wall" provides a fine background.

Hello Loong,

A very calm and pleasing photograph. Your angle, looking upwards at the pair, seems to combine them as more than master and animal but more like friends. And, they are both looking at you in such a relaxed way.
The greenery makes a very good, non-distracting backcloth.

Easy that you can also talk to the people of Indonesia in Malay. Would that be possible everywhere in Indonesia?
I understand the cow got in shock when she heard your accent.
Maybe she understood your word for 'cow' as 'beef' ...
