Photographer's Note

Pulau Makian at sunrise, during one of the most scenic boattrips I ever did, from Ambon to Ternate through the Maluku islands, Eastern Indonesia. This area is known for it's many volcanoes, clear ocean's and beautifull tropical islands. Most likely you'll be the only traveller here, as most travellers don't get this far.
The trip takes two night's and will have two stops at islands inbetween. I have never seen so many flying fish in my life, at night there were swarms of thousants and thousants flying fish jumping and flying around our ship. Fantastic sight!
The ship I took was the 'Cahaya Bahari', unfortunately this ship went down in a storm abt 5 years later, in which almost all of the 500 people onboard drowned. (It was heavily overloaded with refugees from Halmahera who had fled the ethnic violence there.)
