Photographer's Note

Borobudur is the world´s largest Buddhist temple and the great ancient monument in the southern hemisphere.
Is one of the wonders of the world, an artificial mountain of some 60,000m3 of stone.
It was built between 778 and 850. In the mid-1960s a huge archaeological rescue program was launched by UNESCO. In a task comparared with the Abu Simbel resiting of Egypt´s statues , Borobudur was literally taken to pieces and rebuilt.
On the upper, open terraces are more than 70 stupas , most containing sittng statues of Buda.
