Photographer's Note

Jakarta is a capital in Indonesia. Since it is located directly under the equator, it is in the climate of the temperature which exceeds 30 degrees through every year, and high humidity. Eight months from November to June are the rainy season, and four months from July to October are the dry season. Population is over 9,500,000 people and city zone population including the suburbs is a Southeast Asia leading world city which has 22,240,000 people. This photograph is taken from the room of the hotel at which I stayed. This address is Jl. Prapatan No. 44-48 from which it separated a little from the commercial central district. There was large green lawn in front of the hotel. And, there is a rotary about the surroundings of it and I remember that the car and the motorcycle were going back and forth. It was impressive in houses with a red roof. In the distance, we can see the high buildings of a new business district. I walked around this city as much as possible by my foot such as an independent commemoration tower, the National Museums, and a commercial central district. However, I was interested more in the roadside stand at which the inhabitants drop in. When it separates from a little central district at those days, I remember by which the sidewalk of the road is uneven and is seldom improved. And, I was surprised that sound which recites the Quran can be heard from a mosque when I was sleeping in the morning at the hotel. So, this is a country of Islam.
