Photographer's Note

It is in the Tropics and has a lot of rainfall, but you will not find a tropical rainforest in this high altitude, due to low temperature. Hill at background is about 2,500 to 3,000 meter above sea level. Natural vegetation commonly observed in this highland are mostly shrubs, grasses, and only few tree species. Biological diversity at this altitude is relatively low campared to that of lowland tropics.

Lowland of Papua is very rich in biological diversity.
Well-known fauna from this island is the bird of paradise (locally known as 'cenderawasih') and many spesies of orchids are easily found in jungle of lowland Papua.

Colors other than green in this picture are natural color of young leaves or flowers. They are not the color of old leaves as in autumn of temperate climate. So, it is autumn all-year around in highland of Papua.

Temperature varies between 15 C at dawn to 25 C at around noon. Sky is mostly clear in the morning but getting cloudy at noon and afternoon. This picture was taken in the morning.

Hope you like the view...
